Torquay Golf Club – November 23, 2017

ON MONDAY, the Women for Women in Africa charity event was held. A shotgun start at 8.30am with a full field of ladies took to the course with the day being a great success.

Tuesday was stroke club medal for the ladies, with Barbara Croaker taking out A Grade with net 72.

B Grade was won by Marg DeVries on a countback net 73. Sandra Martin won C Grade with net 67. Resort was won by Trish Morris with 41 points. NTPs Judy Bell, Cheryl Brunt, Marg DeVries, Cheryl Brunt, Trish Morris and Karen Grayling winning the jackpot. Sandra Martin was awarded the club medal.

Wednesday was stroke for the men with Glenn Mifsud winning A Grade with net 66. He’s playing partner Kev Leeman took out B Grade with net 67. Steve May won C Grade with net 66, while Phil Brown won D Grade on a countback with net 65. James Wood won the resort competition with 45 points. NTPs John Bishop, Glenn Mifsud, Jim Cairns, Basil Hargrove, Barry Leith and Geoff Davie taking out the Jackpot.

Friday was a double shotgun event with the am competition teeing off at 7.45am. George Lewis was the winner with 43 points. Martin Hooiveld was runner-up with 39 on a countback. Cheryl Brunt won the ladies competition with 36 points. The men’s guest competition was won by Peter Carroll from the Kooringal GC with 39 points. John Ho was runner-up with 38 points from Kooringal GC also. It was also that time of the year for Torquay vs. Eastern. John Berridge was the best from Torquay with 39 points just beating runner-up Dominic Condon with 38 points. Kit Lau was the best from Eastern and posted the best score for the day with 46 points, with Graham Smith coming in runner-up on a countback on 40 points. NTPs Tony Jones, Des Shadey, Andrew Hansen, Morrie, MacDonald and Ross Bottomley winning the jackpot.

Saturday was a double shotgun start with par the game of choice. In the am competition, Chris Benson won A Grade with +3. Shaun Litaize won B Grade on a countback with +6. In the pm competition, Glenn Mifsud carried his good form and won the A Grade competition with +2 on a countback. Taking out B Grade was Barry Hewitt with +6. Marg Joyner won the ladies competition with +1 on a countback. Graeme Sharp won resort with +3. Samuel Winzar won the guest competition from Gen Y GC. NTPs Peter Wills, Karen Bourke, Graeme Sharp, Wendy Poyner, Paul Byron, Jason Loftus, Paul Brunt, John Brunt took out the Jackpot.
