Torquay Golf Club to partner with GGA on golf clinic programs
BOOSTING the community’s golfing aspirations, the Torquay Golf Club have partnered with the Geelong Golf Academy (GGA) to provide athletes of all levels with a series of coaching lessons.
Torquay Golf Club president Peter Oliver said he was excited about the range of beginner, intermediate and junior beginner programs which are set to be offered and rolled out across the year, including those starting this February.
“We have been impressed with the comprehensive programmes designed by GGA which provide new or returning golfers with the golfing skills that hopefully will see them progress into new members for our club,” he said.
“The programmes are being run by Tybin Lawson and his team of golf coaches.
“Tybin recently won Golf Australia’s top award for the best national training programme delivery in 2022, so we have joined forces with one of the elite training organisations in the country.
“We are really hoping to gain more female and junior members through the process as we continue to develop the club.”
The Torquay Golf Club and GGA programs are set to be offered for members, friends of members, newcomers and members from other local clubs.
All three differing level clinics will begin at the start of Term 1 of the school curriculum, with an eight-week program being run for both women’s beginners and women’s intermediate players and a ten-week program running for junior beginners.
The beginner program will cover all the different areas of the game in a fun and relaxed way and will lead into the intermediate program, which is designed to bridge transitions, including improvements in golf swing, how and when to use each club, and which type of shots should be played and when.
The junior beginner program will be suited for school children of limited golfing experience and will provide an ideal pathway to progressing at a quick rate.
