TORQUAY Cricket Club has locked in its first overseas recruit, with Scotland Under-19 representative Finn Carter set to wear the yellow and black in 2025-2026 season.

The 18-year-old is a talented top order batsman and wicket keeper who plays club cricket for Whitstable Cricket Club in Kent, England.

During the recent English summer, he scored almost 1,400 runs from 38 innings, including two centuries and nine half centuries.

The star recruit also played a key role in Scotland’s Under-19 World Cup European qualifying campaign.

Tigers men’s coach Damian O’Brien said Carter, who has just touched down in Australia, will be a welcome arrival ahead of the season.

“We’re not going to put a heap of pressure on him — our main aim is that he enjoys himself in Torquay and gets as much as he can out of the whole experience.

“From what we’ve watched of his batting online, though, he clearly has some talent and a really good temperament for a young player. He knows how to build an innings.

“We’re looking forward to having him in our colours.”

The Torquay Tigers will kick off their 2025-26 season on October 4.

The club is eager to welcome new women’s, men’s and junior players of any experience level.

To express interest, email [email protected] or get in contact via the club’s Facebook or Instagram pages.
