Torquay’s Jarrod Snow wins Kiteboarding Nationals on home break
TORQUAY local Jarrod Snow won the 2020 Kiteboarding Australia Wave Nationals on Friday last week at Point Danger.
The best kiteboarders from around Australia took to the waters of Torquay for the competition.
They had to wait for the ideal conditions, but when they came, the competitors put on a fantastic display.
Kitboarding Australia general manager Declan McCarthy said he was delighted with how the event went.
“We were stoked to have wind on the first day of competition, which meant the event was under way straight away.
“The conditions improved throughout the day and made a great final into the evening.”
The men’s final was closely fought, as Snow beat Queensland’s Jack Bailey by just 0.03 points.
New South Wales’ Ashley Brunette won the women’s final. She almost won the junior final too, only to be narrowly beaten by Luca Duffin.
McCarthy said the location matched the high quality of kiteboarding on display.
“Torquay is a great place to host the event with a fun and vibrant community that competitors can enjoy on and off the water. We’re looking forward to coming back in 2021.”
