AFL BARWON’S All Abilities competitions will receive a large boost for years to come after Kardinia Park Stadium Trust announced it would become a major sponsor of the fledgling competition for the next three years.

Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, in partnership with AFL Barwon, announced it will be the naming rights partner of the All Abilities Football Netball League, now in its second season, with all match footballs, football jumpers and netball bibs to carry the Kardinia Park logo.

Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO, Gerard Griffin, said the ongoing partnership between the organisation and AFL Barwon was a unique one that demonstrates support of its community in a truly inclusive way.

“Our ongoing commitment to providing opportunities for participation and connection, has us once again hosting the opening round of the AFL Barwon All Abilities Football Netball League at GMHBA Stadium.”

The 2024 Kardinia Park All Abilities Football Netball League season will return to GMHBA Stadium for Round 1 this weekend, similarly to 2023, with a double header of football matches taking place on Saturday.

The opening round matches will kick off at GMHBA Stadium at 4.30pm, with a football and netball showcase commencing on the field between the two football games.

The night’s fixturing will begin with Geelong West playing Bell Park from 4.30pm, while St Joseph’s will conclude the night’s action against Newcomb at 6.30pm.

AFL Barwon Region general manager Edward Wilson said it was humbling to receive the ongoing support of Kardinia Park for its inclusion leagues.

“The Trust have been extremely proactive in engaging our community to deliver outcomes that prioritise positive promotion and sustainability of this league,” Wilson said.

“We’re excited by this announcement and the collaboration our two organisations working together will continue to deliver across the board.”

Tomorrow’s admission to the Kardinia Park All Abilities Football Netball League games at GMHBA Stadium is free and more event information can be found at aflbarwon.com.au or kardiniapark.vic.gov.au
