US import Stewart signs with Geelong
GEELONG has signed US-import Annika Stewart for the remainder of the NBL1 South season.
The University of Minnesota guard/centre is fresh off winning the 2025 Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament in the United States.
Beyond her time with Minnesota, Stewart spent four seasons playing for the University of Nebraska, where she played alongside fellow Geelong guard Jaz Shelley.
She said she was beyond excited to be joining Geelong’s strong roster.
“It’s an incredible opportunity, and I can’t wait to get to know my teammates, explore a new culture, and compete in a new league.
“I’m looking forward to contributing in any way I can to help us win games and build a strong team culture.”
Stewart is set to join the squad during Geelong’s Tasmania double-header this weekend, before playing her first home game at Geelong Arena on May 10.
Women’s head coach Megan Moody said Stewart would be a great asset for Geelong.
“She adds another strong post presence which will compliment what we already have in place through the likes of Hannah Hank, Dakota Crichton and Tanielle Knight.”
