GEELONG Venom has appointed two new development coaches for the coming 2025/2026 Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) season.
Incumbent director of coaching at Geelong United Basketball Simon Nicholson and 2024/25 volunteer WNBL coach Hannah Ronan-Black will both bring extensive experience to their new roles.
The pair have both been involved within the Geelong basketball community for an extended period and have been widely recognised for their passion and dedication to nurturing emerging talent.
Geelong United chief executive officer Mark Neeld welcomed both coaches on board for an exciting season ahead.
“Their knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm make them ideal mentors for our athletes, and their ongoing involvement with the Venom underscores our commitment to developing pathways — not just for players aiming for the WNBL, but also for coaches building their careers,” he said.

General manager of pathways Megan Moody said the Venom were focused on growing a strong, sustainable culture at every level of the program.
“Simon and Hannah embody that mission.
“Their experience within our system ensures that our players and coaches continue to develop together, strengthening both the Venom program and the broader Geelong basketball community.”
Geelong Venom are slated to play their home opener against Sydney on October 18 at The Arena in Geelong.
