TWO goals in the final minutes saw Geelong snatch back the winning lead from Werribee in a thrilling VFL game at Spring Creek Reserve on Sunday.

The staging of the game in Torquay drew a big crowd of people enjoying the Easter long weekend, who witnessed a seesawing contest between the two sides.

The Cats started the game better, establishing a 22-point lead at quarter time but the Tigers rallied, cutting the margin to seven points in the second quarter.

Goals to Stewart Crameri and Jamaine Jones pushed Geelong’s lead back out to 25 points seven minutes into the third quarter but Werribee surged again, kicking seven of the next eight goals to reel in the deficit and take an eight-point lead with about 10 minutes left in the final quarter.

A big grab and goal from Wylie Buzza in time-on cut the margin to two points and Luke Kiel’s goal put the Cats back in front, where they hung on until the siren, winning 12.12 (84) to 11.14 (80).
