Vic Open begins at 13th Beach
THE ISPS Handa Vic Open titles begin today (Thursday, February 6) at 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads.
The Open will feature a mix of domestic and international golfers.
Both winners from 2019, Celine Boutier of France and David Law of Scotland, are returning to defend their titles.
But they will have plenty of competition, as eight of the previous men’s winners and four of the previous women’s winners are also teeing off.
Golf Australia head of operations Simon Brookhouse said he was delighted to see such a quality line up for the event.
“We’re very lucky to have such great depth in both fields.
“So, we’re certain to have two worthy champs come Sunday night.”
There are plenty of Australian talents who may also compete for the Open.
Western Australia’s Minjee Lee remains the only Australian to have won the women’s category and the only person to have won it multiple times.
Fellow Australians Hannah Green, Sarah Kemp, Katherine Kirk and Su Oh will likely be among Lee’s main competitors.
In the men’s category, 2017 winner Dimi Papadatos from new South Wales could be a strong contender.
There are also several Victorians with capable of challenging, including Geoff Ogilvy, Matt Griffin and David Micheluzzi.
The Open runs from February 6-9.
Tickets are $10 for the day and $30 for a season pass.
Not only do all Victorian golf club, senior club holders and children under 18 enter free, but there will also be no charge for CFA volunteers, emergency workers and their families.
Tickets are available from vicopengolf.com/ticketing.
