Williams named best afield for Team Boak in Boys Futures clash
GEELONG Falcons speedster Noah Williams has claimed best on ground for Team Boak in the annual Under-17 Boys Futures match at the MCG.
Team Boak, named after Port Adelaide great Travis Boak, knocked off Team Docherty, named after retiring Blue Sam, by 13 points to kick off Grand Final day.
The match is a showcase of the best players eligible for the 2026 AFL draft.
Williams (St Joseph’s) gathered 17 important disposals from the wing for the winning side and was especially dominant early.
The best afield award on the biggest day of the year sets the 17-year-old up for the 2026 season, where he will put his best foot forward in a pursuit to land on an AFL list.
Williams played 10 games for the Falcons as a bottom-ager and averaged just under 13 disposals and 5.8 tackles.
He was particularly influential in the side’s thrilling wildcard final win over Bendigo, picking up 15 touches and laying 12 tackles.
Fellow Falcon Jack Pickett (Torquay) also featured in the exhibition match on Team Docherty and kicked two goals, the equal-most for his side.
Pickett played eight games for the Falcons and kicked 31 goals for the season, including a bag of seven in Round 15 against the Western Jets.
