SURF Coast Longboarders will band the community together for a good cause next weekend as it hosts its annual Winter Classic.
The event on July 5 and July 6 will feature surf action at Point Impossible Beach, followed by an auction night to raise vital funds to support a local resident undergoing cancer treatment.
More than 80 people competed in the event in 2024, helping to raise over $10,000 for a family in need.
Club president Penny Andrews said excitement was high for another huge event this year.
“It’s always a really exciting event as it’s our biggest fundraiser for the year.
“For some people they come along and surf in the event and have a great time, but for some of us who get to hand over the cheque and help the family its quite emotional.
“We know that we’ve done a really nice thing to help people, and that they really appreciate it.

“Whatever money we can raise from the auction night and event entries will go to the family, and they can use that as they wish.”
Ms Andrews said Surf Coast Longboarders were expecting a fantastic field of Victorian surfers to hit the water.
“We always have a great field of locals, and people from across the state who come and support us.
“Ben Considine, Matthew Lumley just to name a few will be putting their hat in the ring this year.
“We are hoping to have plenty more come along and surf with us, including all our age divisions up to Over 80’s.”

Over the past five years, the event has raised over $50,000 for local families in need and charitable organisations.
Entries will remain open until late next week.
