An oasis for coffee lovers

SINCE 2013, Ocean Grind has been roasting and supplying specialty coffee for homes, cafes and shops along the Surf Coast.

Their new roastery and café space is a popular haven away from the busier parts of Torquay.

Enjoy their beautiful coffee alongside a range of sweet treats, toasties and wraps.

Customers can sit inside their vast warehouse space or the undercover dog-friendly area outside.

Quality is the main priority here as they strive to showcase their product. The friendly team also loves chatting with customers about their home coffee needs.

Owner and head roaster Mark Clatworthy explains: “We like to make coffee approachable for everyone and help advise people how to improve their coffee at home, as well as encouraging customers to try different blends or brew methods.”

The shop area contains their full range of coffee blends, which can be ground on the spot to suit machines at home.

 

Plus they sell a range of coffee making equipment and accessories for the home.

They are also about to relaunch their “home barista” training workshops, so keep an eye on their social media for updates.

Besides their passion for coffee, Ocean Grind has a strong sustainability ethos, having invested in a Loring air roaster that uses 80 per cent less CO2 than a traditional roaster – resulting in “cleaner” tasting coffee that is also cleaner for the environment. They successfully ditched single-use coffee cups in 2019 and also encourage customers to use BYO containers for coffee bean refills (get a $1 discount). Plus all their used coffee grinds are re-purposed for gardens.

Ocean Grind is located at 2 Sawmills Way, Torquay and is open Monday to Friday 7am to 2pm and Saturdays 8am to 1pm.
