June 23, 2023 BY

There are so many great reasons to learn martial arts –from self-defence and conflict avoidance strategies to self-expression and just having fun.

Endurance Martial Arts are celebrating a huge milestone by turning 10 years old this year.

Owner and head Instructor Alistair Lawson is thrilled by this achievement. “I started out in Martial Arts at the age of six and by the time I was 16 years old had earnt my black belt in Taekwondo.

I always dreamed of owning and running a full time martial arts studio so I’m extremely happy to be able to achieve the first 10 years,” he said.

For Master Al, as he is referred to, he has had quite the journey and experience to share with his students.

Training with a number of well-known martial artists including Bruce Lee’s number 1 student and movie star Dan Innosanto, kickboxing legend Benny “The Jet” Urquidez as well as a number of taekwondo’s great 9th Dan Grand Masters.

There is something for everyone to enjoy from four years old Mini Kickers upwards.

He has trained overseas in China with the Shaolin Monks, representing Australia at the World Taekwondo Championships in Korea, achieved International Gold Medals as well as being pen pals with movie icon Jackie Chan back in the ’90s. His passion for learning and teaching has only grown over the years.

At Endurance Martial Arts, Master Al and his fellow Instructors now share their passion for teaching taekwondo, judo and Brazilian jiu jitsu under the one club and one membership.

This allows students to learn skills in striking and self-defence, throws, sweeps and pinning as well as grappling and submission fighting.

All three disciplines are a great accompany to each other and cover all aspects of possible self-defence situations tactics.

There are so many great reasons to learn martial arts – self-defence, conflict avoidance strategies, fitness, meeting new friends, building confidence, self-expression, having fun!

Learning skills that are useful and keep you fit and healthy are fantastic and the skills you learn could help save you in a confrontational situation.

There are also life skills that come from learning martial arts that are great for all ages – goal setting, resilience, endurance.

Martial arts are all about adapting to the situation and moving forward. Developing the “Never Give Up” attitude goes a long way and is such a powerful mindset to be able to tap into in life.

Endurance Martial Arts strives to give students an opportunity to achieve all of the above as well as create a path to one of life most sort after bucket list items – achieving a black belt or three.

With classes split into age brackets, specialist focus classes for self-defence, sparring, competition success and over 40s – there is something for everyone to enjoy from four years old Mini Kickers right through.

As they say in martial arts: the most important belt to achieve is a white belt, as without that, you have yet to start.

The first step is always the hardest in ever journey but if you would like to start your journey and get involved, phone Master Al on 0422 353 723 or email him on [email protected] to arrange your first trial class.

To celebrate 10 years, Endurance are also giving all new members a $10 credit towards their uniform or merchandise upon sign up until end July 2023; and with no annual fees it is a great time to get involved.
