Modern leg vein treatment

Dr Lucy Mckinnon and Dr Katie Cook from Geelong and Surfcoast Veins.

From spider veins to varicose veins, the doctors at Geelong and Surfcoast Veins can treat them all.

About 20 per cent of people will be affected by varicose veins in their lifetime, and many more experience spider veins.

Abnormal leg veins can cause cosmetic concerns, but are also at risk of blood clots, ulcers and bleeding.

The days of vein stripping are gone, and have been replaced by modern, minimally invasive and highly effective walk-in walk-out treatments.

Dr Katie Cook and Dr Lucy Mckinnon have been friends and colleagues for over 20 years having met at the Geelong hospital as junior doctors.

They have more than 50 years of medical experience between them and have treated thousands of veins.

They are both passionate about the assessment and treatment of all leg veins and the prevention of chronic venous disease.

Katie was born and raised in Geelong and Lucy has lived on the Surf Coast for more than 20 years.

They are proud to be bringing their expert leg vein treatment skills to the Geelong, Surf Coast and Bellarine community.

With a background in emergency medicine and general practice, Lucy and Katie have now completed advanced training with the Australasian College of Phlebology.

They have travelled interstate over many years to learn from the best vein doctors in Australia and now bring their knowledge and skill to Geelong and the Surf Coast.

It is so important to Katie and Lucy to find out what it is exactly that bothers you about your leg veins. Patients may be concerned about symptoms (aching, itching, heaviness, swelling) or long term medical concerns (ulcers, worsening of their veins).

They may additionally be concerned with the way their veins look and want to feel comfortable wearing shorts again.

Based at The Torquay Medical Hub, the assessment process includes a bulk-billed ultrasound scan of your legs with our experienced vascular sonographers, followed by a one-on-one consultation to educate you about your individual vein issues and your treatment options.

The Geelong and Surfcoast Veins team are committed to finding the best solution for your leg vein concerns.

Phone 4216 5566 and ask for a consultation with Dr Katie or Dr Lucy.
