Bringing weddings and love to life

Shay started Bonnie Blossom out of a simple idea: to create floral designs that reflect their unique love stories and personalities.
IN the heart of Geelong, a small florist business is blooming into a wedding industry favourite.
Bonnie Blossom, founded and run by 22-year-old Shay Pizaro, specialises in crafting stunning floral arrangements that bring joy and elegance to couples’ most special days. But what sets Bonnie Blossom apart isn’t just the flowers; it’s the story behind them.
Shay’s journey into floristry began at Geelong Flower Farm, where a simple work experience placement sparked a huge passion. She always appreciated flowers, but it wasn’t until she had this chance to realise just how much she appreciated them. Surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the flower industry, Shay quickly developed an eye for detail and a knack for arranging flowers in a way that enhances their beauty. She found joy in experimenting with different textures and colour palettes, constantly pushing herself to refine her technique.
Determined to take her newfound passion to the next level, Shay pursued a Certificate III in Floristry. This course provided her with the technical skills and a creative foundation to transform her dream into reality. Learning from experienced florists, she discovered the intricacies of floral design, from traditional techniques to modern trends, further igniting her enthusiasm for the craft
While completing her studies, Shay continued working part-time at Geelong Flower Farm. There, she not only refined her skills but also learned the practical side of running a successful floral business. From sourcing the freshest blooms to understanding client needs, Shay gained valuable insights that would later shape Bonnie Blossom.
Bonnie Blossom began out of a simple idea: to create floral designs that reflect their unique love stories and personalities. Specialising in wedding florals, Shay offers everything from elegant bouquets to modern centrepieces, ensuring every detail feels personal and meaningful. “Every couple has a vision for their wedding day, and my job is to bring that vision to life through flowers,” Shay said. “Whether it’s classic and elegant or bold and modern, I’m here to make it happen.”
Running Bonnie Blossom while continuing to work part-time at Geelong Flower Farm is no small feat, but Shay wouldn’t have it any other way. Her passion for floristry shines through in her dedication to creating arrangements that bring happiness to others and make wedding days even more memorable. Each bouquet and centrepiece is curated to reflect the personality of the couple, ensuring every floral arrangement captures the essence of each couple’s love.
Additionally, Shay is a familiar face at bridal expos around Geelong. These events provide her with the perfect opportunity to connect with engaged couples, showcase her work, and offer inspiration for their special day. Shay’s presence at these expos highlights her dedication to making wedding planning accessible and exciting for her clients.
As Bonnie Blossom continues to grow, Shay envisions an exciting future for the business. She hopes to expand her offerings, collaborate with more local vendors, and bring innovative floral trends to the Geelong wedding scene.
Above all, Shay remains passionate about helping couples celebrate their love in the most beautiful way possible.
