Life Change Lawyers

Tracey Hanlon and Emma Cowey are a trusted conveyancing team, helping clients on their property ownership journey.

WIGHTONS Lawyers is dedicated to guiding clients through some of life’s most significant transitions whether buying or selling a property, starting a business, navigating separation, succession planning or distributing an estate.

Highlighted here are some of the incredible women at the firm and how they assist clients through these changes.

Tracey Hanlon and Emma Cowey – Conveyancing

With more than four decades of combined experience, Tracey and Emma are a trusted conveyancing team, helping clients on their property ownership journey.

The duo understands the significance of buying or selling a house, and focus on making sure the process is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

On her approach to conveyancing, Emma said: “I aim to ensure the process is positive and bring a ‘can-do’ attitude to each matter.”

And for first-time buyers who are daunted by the process?

“No question is too big or small,” Emma said. “It’s important for clients to feel as though they can ask me anything.”

Tracey is grateful to have the opportunity to be part of this stage in her clients’ lives.

“I enjoy helping people find their home or sell it and move on to their next adventure” she said.

Tracey understands that buying a home often isn’t just a financial investment – it’s an emotional one too.

Lauren Williams and Charlotte Brancatisano – Family Law

Lauren is an experienced family lawyer, joining the Wightons team last year after moving from Melbourne to the Surf Coast.

Courtney Gow, Lauren Williams, Minelle Fernando and Charlotte Brancatisano.

On her decision to join Wightons, Lauren said: “It is important to me as a female lawyer and mother to have

strong female leadership within the firm. This was one of the drawcards.”

Being a short distance from some of the best beaches in Australia also helped.

Lauren appreciates the uncertainty that comes from separation and aims to provide clients with clarity on their legal position.

“My goal is to secure the best legal and practical outcomes for their next chapter in life,” she said.

Another key member of the family law team, Charlotte Brancatisano, shares a similar passion for supporting families in transition.

“I enjoy helping people, and being a family lawyer allows me to do that,” she said.

In what can be an especially challenging time for her clients, Charlotte brings a calm and tailored approach.

Minelle Fernando and Courtney Gow – Commercial Law and Wills and Estates

Minelle and Courtney work across wills and estates and commercial law, helping individuals and businesses alike to protect and plan for their future.

They both take the time to listen and understand their clients’ individual circumstances, focusing on providing meaningful solutions and practical advice.

This is particularly important, Courtney noted, when faced with challenging family situations or legal issues.

“When a client comes to see you, it is often a very stressful or emotional time in their life,” Minelle said. “It’s rewarding to guide them through this difficult time.”

On why she enjoys being a lawyer, Courtney reflects on the satisfaction she gains from “making a difference in people’s lives and having a lasting impact”.
