Our vision at Gordon Primary School is to deliver excellence in every classroom.

THE early years of a child’s education shape not only what they learn, but who they become.

At Gordon Primary School, this responsibility is embraced with a clear and unwavering focus: excellence in every classroom.

At the heart of Gordon Primary School is a simple but powerful belief: every student can thrive and achieve high standards with the right time, the right teaching and the right support. This belief drives a culture of high expectations for every learner and every staff member, every day.

Guided by the values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, students are supported to grow as confident, capable and connected individuals. These values are embedded across the school, shaping a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child is known, supported and challenged to succeed.

Teaching and learning at Gordon Primary School is deliberate, evidence-informed and focused on impact. Teachers use clear learning intentions, explicit instruction and ongoing assessment to ensure consistency and clarity in every classroom. This approach ensures that every lesson counts and that every student is supported to progress in their learning.

Strong partnerships with families are central to the school’s success. Gordon Primary School works closely with parents and carers to build a shared understanding of learning and to support each child’s growth. Through regular communication and engagement opportunities, families are active partners in their child’s education.

In 2026, the school is proud to welcome the newly opened Gordon Kindergarten on site, marking an exciting new chapter for the community. This partnership aims to create a seamless transition from early childhood into primary school, strengthening relationships and ensuring children begin their school journey with confidence, familiarity and a strong sense of belonging.

Arlo is the school’s much-loved wellbeing dog.

Beyond the classroom, students are offered a rich and engaging range of opportunities. A strong creative arts enrichment program in music and visual arts enables students to explore their talents and express themselves, with many students participating in the Victorian State School Spectacular each year.

Hands-on learning is further enhanced through Beachy’s Shed, where students engage in STEM, design and construction projects that build creativity, problem-solving and practical skills.

Student wellbeing and support extend beyond the school day. Gordon Primary School offers before and after-school care, as well as holiday programs, providing families with flexible, high-quality options that support both care and continued engagement in a safe and familiar environment.

Within the school day, wellbeing is further strengthened through initiatives including the presence of Arlo, the school’s much-loved wellbeing dog, who plays a unique role in fostering connection, calmness and engagement.

The strength of Gordon Primary School lies in its community. An active School Council and dedicated families contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring the school continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of its students.

Gordon Primary School invites families to visit, connect and experience firsthand a school where high expectations, strong partnerships and a commitment to excellence are making a genuine difference for every learner.
