A NEW veterinary service in Gordon has already been accepted by its community.

Lynn Rowley and Alastair MacLennan opened Gordon Vet Clinic on Main Street earlier this month, and residents have made their presence felt.

“A lot of people kind of pop in, either to say hi or to inquire whether we’ve got an appointment available,” MacLennan said. “There’s been a lot of local support from the community.”

The couple and clinic co-directors came up with the idea two-and-a-half years ago to start their own practice. They signed with a building company in late 2024.

MacLennan said there was a need in the town for another service.

“We feel like there’s a bit of a void in vets in the area,” he said. “A lot of people were driving at least half an hour to get to their nearest vet clinic.”

He said they had been providing home visits since January, but

that it was exciting to be in their newly built clinic.

“Fully booked today,” he said. “And starting to get more bookings for the week. Definitely getting a bit of momentum going there. It’s exciting.”

With the building, the clinic can now offer a full service to pets.

“I’m excited to be able to be doing surgeries and actually be able to offer care to the patients beyond what I could do on home visits,” MacLennan said.

Both Gordon residents, the pair were wanting a better work-life balance while building something for their daughter.

The clinic is located at 51 Main Street, Gordon.
