A THREE-PLAY production is being performed across two days in Moorabool this weekend, and a community theatre is eager to welcome as many attendees as possible.

Moonlite Theatre performs and rehearses at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on 19 Gisborne Road, Bacchus Marsh – which will be the scene of its latest production, Ouch!

Two of the three short plays are locally written, with No Business Like…The Stand Off and Birds of a Feather locally written plays, while a radio adaptation of Agatha Christie’s detective novel The ABC Murders will also be performed.

Moonlite Theatre’s vice-president, Tim Hawthorne, said there was quite a variety on show, and hopes locals will get on-board and support a local community theatre.

“No Business Like…The Stand Off is a radio play written by local playwright William Alexander, in which a pay increase to some members of the staff is causing issues among other members of the staff who didn’t get the increase. What lengths will they go to get their point across, call the police perhaps?” he said.

“Birds of a Feather, on the other hand, is a short play written by another local playwright, Deb Barker. In the play, the deceased Mrs. Smith’s beloved pets Patricia the cat and Mr. Peachy the parrot are thrown together with the self-serving relatives, and chaos soon ensues.

“Then, of course, there’s The ABC Murders by the late, great Agatha Christie, a radio adaptation of her detective novel of the same name.

“We’d love to get more locals through the doors, and of course, if anyone wants to join in the fun, we can always find a job for you.

“Whether it be sound, lighting, writing plays, or even acting, there’s plenty to do.”

Ouch! will be performed tonight (Friday 19 April) at 8pm, and tomorrow (Saturday 20 April) at 2pm and 8pm.
