Trivia for Lal Lal school

STAFF at Lal Lal Primary School are aiming to bring the community together for an evening of brainteasers with a Christmas in July trivia night later this month.

The event will serve as the school’s major fundraiser event, with proceeds to go towards upgrading the institution’s playground.

Set to be run out of the Lal Lal Soldiers Memorial Hall and co-hosted by the site’s management committee, principal Shiobhan Gosney said the event is about fostering community connection.

“The hall committee are running the trivia for us and we’ll have lots of games and silent auctions along the way,” she said.

“There’ll be a prize around best-dressed Christmas sweater. It’s to bring the community together for a bit of fun.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring gold coins for the chance to win additional prizes on the night.

The school’s staff and community have been fundraising for a new playground since last year, and Ms Gosney said the current one is definitely due for a revamp.

“Some of the parents remember the playground since they were here. It hasn’t been changed since then,” she said.

“They’re very essential because we meet the new standards of today. The equipment’s probably 30 or 40 years old and it’s all made of wood and falling apart.

“This won’t just be for the playground but for soft fall underneath.”

The trivia night will run from 7pm on Saturday 27 July, with individual tickets at $15, $80 for a table of eight.
