CONSTRUCTION is underway on the community and multi-sports hub at Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve (BMRRR).

The state government has contributed $3.29 million through its Growing Suburbs Fund, $1 million from its Local Sports Infrastructure Fund and $180,000 through its Changing Places Program.

The federal government, meanwhile, provided $4 million from its Thriving Suburbs Fund, and Moorabool Shire Council contributed $1.53 million.

Mayor Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor said the council was excited to deliver the hub at BMRRR, which was on track to be completed later this year.

“The fantastic thing about this facility is that it is for everyone,” he said. “Any community group will be able to book a meeting space and use this wonderful modern facility once it’s built.”

Cr Venditti-Taylor said the hub would be another esteemed feature in the BMRRR precinct.

“I thank the investment from both the federal and Victorian governments,” he said. “And the hard work done by our council officers to make this project come to fruition.”

Federal Hawke MP Sam Rae said the community in Maddingley had grown fast.

“There are so many families moving here,” he said. “That’s why it’s so important that the federal government, the state government, and Moorabool Shire Council are working together to make sure that we’ve got the facilities and the amenities that our growing community needs and this is a fantastic example of that partnership.”

State Eureka MP Michaela Settle said the reserve has needed to grow throughout the years.

“We’ve got so many different offerings here from the wonderful playground, soccer pitches, tennis courts, cricket nets, football field and now a community hub,” she said.
