A HAT-TRICK of premiership wins is always something to celebrate, but two divisions of the same local club are both celebrating winning their third flags in a row this month.

Last Tuesday, Ballan Bowling Club’s Division 4 midweek side played Smeaton at the Ballarat East Bowling Club, with Ballan emerging victorious, with 97 shots to Smeaton’s 34 shots.

Saturday saw Ballan’s Division 3 and 6 sides also take to the rinks for premiership glory, with the Division 3 side also claiming its third flag in a row, 100 shots to BMS’ 58.

Ballan were unable to make it three out of three, with the Division 6 side going down to BMS 91 shots to 75 – but there’s no doubt there’s a buzz about the club at the moment.

“Our Division 3 side have won three grand finals in a row, jumping up a division each year. Next year we move into Division 2, which is the highest division the club has ever been in,” Club President David O’Hanlon said.

“We are looking forward to contesting in Division 2 next year and hopefully we keep this group together and add a few more players to our list.

“We have an amazing club and special thanks must go to all our, players, supporters, sponsors, families and volunteers.”

The Chiefs finished the Division 3 home and away season on top of the ladder and, after winning the semi-final against BMS two weeks ago, went into the grand final as favourites.

At half time of the 21-end competition the Chiefs held a slender 9-shot lead but after the break the team combined very well and ran away with the win.

“We will be back next season bigger and better than ever, and I encourage anyone to come along to our club and get involved either as a bowler or supporter,” Mr O’Hanlon said.

The Division 4 midweek side have also been promoted following their comfortable win.
