BALLINA Buslines is spreading festive cheer with a special Christmas lights tour around the region with funds raised going towards the Salvation Army.
The Christmas lights tour offers a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate the season while giving back to the community.
The first one will leave from the Lismore Square Shopping Centre on Monday, December 22 at 8pm and 9pm.
Buses will run from Tamar Street at Ballina the following night at the same time with a gold coin donation encouraged.
The event, which was held last year, allows locals to see the region’s best-decorated homes and Christmas displays while supporting a good cause.
As part of the initiative, Transport for NSW is decorating buses and running several Christmas fundraising activities across the state.
The program has partnered with Wesley Mission, which provides foster care, disability support, retirement living, and home care.
“Every day we see how compassionate support brightens the lives of those we serve, most especially children,” Wesley Mission chief executive Reverend Stu Cameron said.
“These festive buses lift spirits, spark joy and remind us of the power of connection at this special time of year.”
Locally raised funds will help provide shelter for people experiencing homelessness, gifts for children who might otherwise go without, and hampers for families struggling to afford basic meals.
The appeal also supports those affected by natural disasters.
