Much-loved SES trainer recognised for decade of service
BALLINA State Emergency Service training coordinator Graham Cork received a 10-year long service medal at the North Eastern Zone Awards ceremony at Lismore.
Cork has been instrumental in helping young people and other members of the SES upskill through their training.
“This medal recognises Graham’s outstanding contribution, dedication and commitment to NSW SES, and especially our unit,” a Ballina SES spokesperson said.
“Graham is our dedicated training coordinator and a very active trainer.
“He puts in countless hours to ensure our training program meets the needs of individuals and the unit.
“Graham also runs numerous courses to assist members become qualified, skilled and ready to assist in the community.

“He is one of our best and a highly respected member in our unit.”
Donna Lamont, Karen Rea and Amy Marks from the Casino unit also received 10-year medals in recognition of their efforts through floods and bushfires.
Chris Olive from the nearby Kyogle unit and Peter Tarran of Dorrigo were both recognised for 40 years of service.
Local SES members went on to join more than 150 volunteers from across the state put their life-saving skills to the test at the inaugural Flood Rescue Challenge in Sydney last weekend.
“This year alone, NSW SES members have responded to more than 1100 flood rescues,” assistant commissioner Dean Storey said
“As the combat agency for flood rescue in NSW, our members are already some of the most highly trained operators in the country, and this event is about taking that expertise even further.”
