BUCKIN by the Beach is set to draw big crowds to the J and J Rodeo New Year’s Eve event in Evans Head.

The event will be held at Stan Payne Oval and is expected to sell out, with ticket holders travelling from across the Northern Rivers.

It follows the success of the Byron Bay event earlier this year, along with popular shows in Lismore and Murwillumbah.

“This is set to be one of the best rodeo events in the entire region, there will be non-stop arena action right through to the countdown,” event organiser Jake McManus said.

“There will also be amazing food vendors and plenty of activities for both the kids and adults to make sure everyone has a great time.”

The rodeo will feature bull riding from the 7–12 mini bull ride through to professional athletes competing in the open division.

The event will run under the National Rodeo Association banner, with cash prizes of up to $3000 offered in each division.

J and J Rodeo is coming off a show in Taree, which was supported by NRL player Latrell Mitchell and the Winmarra Foundation.

The South Sydney fullback grew up in the area and has been raising money locally to support flood recovery efforts and programs for young people through the foundation.

Live country music will also feature, with performers from across the region.

Tweed singer Beau Shearer, a former contestant on The Voice, will be part of the entertainment lineup.

Line dancing and performances by the Cowgirl Surf Club will help kick-start the event.
