LISMORE Speedway is set to enter a new era with the popular Lord Mayor’s Cup the first event of the season for incoming promoters Cindy and Mick Corbett.

It will be held tomorrow, Saturday, November 1, and will feature V8 dirt modifieds, wingless sprints, RSA sedans, junior sedans, microsprints and SSA Street Stocks.

The Corbett family has been running the Grafton Speedway since 2018 and has taken over from Kim and Mick Saur, who spent three seasons at the track.

“It’s our first big show and we’re looking forward to getting it up and going,” Mick Corbett said.

“A few promoters have run both venues over the years and it’s just a natural progression for us.

“It’s been left in great order by the previous management and there isn’t a lot we need to do.

“We’ll resurface the track at some point and figure out a few other things along the way.”

There will be 15 race meetings this year, with signature events including the Australian AMCA titles, NSW production sedan championship and the Bruce Maxwell Classic at Easter.

The V8 dirt modifieds will headline multiple shows with the likes of Lismore driver Mark Robinson, Kevin Britten, David Clark, Andrew Pezzutti and Mitch Randall competing.

Prices will remain the same, with other shows featuring monster trucks and the demolition derby.

“It’s still the cheapest night of family entertainment and we want to make sure that we continue to build on that,” Corbett said.

“We might have a few extra heats during some of the events; it will be really good value with whatever we do. It’s a new challenge, but everyone at the showground and local council have gone out of their way to help us set up for a big season.”

Gates will open at 2pm with tickets available at lismorespeedway.com.au
