A TORQUAY golfing resort has donated all profits from its special hole in one competition to local sporting clubs.
The competition, which offered a $10,000 prize, saw many enthusiastic golfers test their skill at The Sands Torquay.
After no player managed to hit the perfect shot in several months, The Sands decided to give the cash away to the Surf Coast
community.
The $10,000 will be split between the Torquay Football Club, Torquay Netball Club, Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club, Torquay Surf Life Saving Club and Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club.
“This event was always about having fun,” The Sands general manager Kerstin Grant said.
“Supporting local sport is something we are passionate about and we genuinely wanted to see golfers of all ages having a go at the hole in one. This is our way of giving back.”
The Sands now plans on introducing a new novel 9 hole competition for social golfers.
Mulligans and Gilligans will enable players to re-do poor shots and force their opponent to re-do their best shot.
