Clinic empowers clients to understand oral health
Offering general and specialised dentistry, Surfside Dental Torquay is now home to a new state-of-the-art and purpose-built clinic, where Dr Rachael Kelly and Chelsea Hodges (OHT) strive to deliver comprehensive care and create a strong patient relationship.
Located at 80 Geelong Road (on the Surf Coast Highway), Surfside Dental is a modern and inviting clinic, that features relevant and innovative dental technology, including our CAD/CAM machine and milling unit, OPG/CBCT machine, and surgical implant capabilities.
With the new clinic facilitating five surgeries, we have been able to expand our practitioners and have recently welcomed an Oral-Health Therapist, Chelsea – which has enabled us to open up more appointments to accommodate the expanding community.
Rachael has been at Surfside Dental since 2019 and loves providing dental care for members of the growing Surf Coast region.
”It’s a lovely community here and I love getting to treat longstanding members of the community as well as helping transition new patients who have moved to the area or who no longer wish to travel for dental treatment,” Rachael said.
“Surfside Dental has been a wonderful place to work and develop as a dentist, we have a supportive team here and that makes all the difference. We all work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients”.
Chelsea returned to the Geelong and the Surf Coast region last year to join the team after studying and working across rural Victoria over the past five years.
She is an Oral Health Therapist (OHT), a registered dental practitioner who provides routine general dentistry.
“Many years ago I sat in my car in shock after receiving my first professional dental clean and a plan for fillings,” Chelsea said.
“I couldn’t believe how little I understood about my own oral health, and it was scary. Initial shock turned quickly to curiosity, which sparked a real interest and lead me to further my studies in oral health care.”
Many people fall into the trap of only coming into the dentist when they are in pain, and they end up falling into a cycle of uncontrolled/recurring oral diseases such as dental decay and gum disease.
Rachael and Chelsea’s big focus is on helping people to get out of this cycle and making dentistry more approachable and easy to understand.
Both Rachael and Chelsea enjoy creating a calm and positive environment for children and people who experience dental anxiety.
They are passionate about empowering patients and enabling them to have confidence in their understanding of oral health and have confidence in their smile.
