Philippa Rickards, the driving force behind My Bookkeeping Buddy, wears many hats – from dedicated mum to loving nanna.

Family has always been her priority, a sentiment that inspired her entrepreneurial journey.

“My main focus in life is my family and that’s why I started the business in the first place, because I was a sole parent and actually wanted to spend time with my kids and give them a future,” Philippa said.

With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, Philippa understands the value of time. She emphasises the importance of reclaiming precious moments, both for herself and her clients.

“It’s afforded me a lifestyle and that’s, I guess what I try and help my clients with is to get back their time so that they can do the things they enjoy,” she shares.

Philippa’s mission is clear – to liberate her clients from the mundane tasks of bookkeeping, allowing them to pursue their passions and spend quality time with loved ones.

At My Bookkeeping Buddy, personalisation is key.

“The bookkeeping that we do is 100 per cent customised. There are no one-size-fits-all solutions here,” Phillipa said.

Each client receives tailored services designed to meet their specific needs, whether it’s setting up software for a new business owner or managing payroll for a larger enterprise.

As a woman in business, Philippa acknowledges the challenges she’s faced along the way.

“It hasn’t always been easy,” she said.

However, being a female entrepreneur has also provided her with invaluable opportunities.

“I’ve been able to have the flexibility to accommodate

that and I’m really so grateful that I’ve been able to do what I’ve done over the past 25 years.”

Her business has not only supported her family but has also allowed her to actively participate in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Philippa offers this advice: “Believe in yourself.”

Confidence, she said, was key to success.

“You’ve just got to have that belief that you can actually do it and you can actually achieve it.”

She also encouraged individuals to seek support and guidance from others.

“Ask for help. Whether it’s through networking or joining business support groups, there are resources available for those who seek them.

“There are people out there that will help you if you ask.”
