Fatal stabbing sparks homicide investigation

A man has died after a stabbing in Norlane on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to Alkira Avenue at about 12.40pm following reports of an altercation involving three men and two women.

A man, who is yet to be formally identified, sustained critical injuries and was treated by emergency services but died at the scene.

A woman in her 20s sustained minor injuries and was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Police said two men and a woman fled the scene and no arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

At this stage, police believe the parties involved were known to one another.
