THE upgrades to netball courts at Banyul-Warri Fields are complete, with the courts now fully resurfaced.

The Surf Coast Shire delivered the works to the three courts in Torquay North as part of the shire’s asset renewal program.

Shire general manager Damian Waight said the project started in mid-November 2025 and was completed earlier this month, with all works within the project budget of just under $100,000.

Works included:

Repairs to cracked sections of asphalt

Levelling of uneven areas of the surface to prevent pooling of water

Re-surfacing with a blue Synpave acrylic sports surfacea and new linemarking, and

Replacement of goal posts and goal post sleeves.

The courts have not yet been tested by league players or under match conditions but Mr Waight said this would happen soon, with the Surf Coast Suns to resume training at the facility by the middle of this month and pre-season games for the Bellarine Netball Season expected to take place in February or March.

Banyul-Warri Fields and all its facilities will also host the inaugural Surf Coast Times Torquay Bowl between the Torquay Tigers and the Suns (the latter making its Bellarine Football League seniors debut) on April 4, which will feature all grades of netball and both senior and reserve football matches.
