Former Melbourne Victory FC captain Adrian Leijer runs Coerver Coaching, inspired by Dutch maestro Wiel Coerver.

IN 2022, former Socceroo and Jan Juc local Adrian Leijer launched Coerver Coaching in the Geelong and Surf Coast region, a globally recognised football program inspired by Dutch maestro Wiel Coerver.

An Olympian and Socceroo, Leijer is also a former Championship winner and captain of Melbourne Victory FC.

His career took him from the A-League to the English Premier League, Chinese Super League, and Korea’s K-League.

“I’m driven to provide kids in Geelong and the Surf Coast access to a high-quality soccer program,” he said.

“Through coaching my daughters, I realised I’m now in a position where I should be sharing my experience and knowledge of the game.

Coerver Coaching forms the foundation of the academies at some of the world’s top football clubs and national sides.

“We have grown rapidly in Geelong over the past two years, and I can’t wait to see where we take it. We have big plans to connect with our global network.

“I am fortunate that football took me around the world.

“I understand the challenges aspiring athletes in regional areas face and my goal is to provide a foundation for children of all levels to develop a love for our great game.”

Coerver Coaching forms the foundation of top academies around the world like Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester United, while heavily influencing some of the best national federations, like World Cup finalists France and Asian powerhouse Japan.

“Coerver is highly regarded globally and we’ve seen the influence the Coerver method has had on some of the biggest players, clubs and federations around the world,” Leijer said.

Coerver Coaching will be running holiday programs in Lorne, Geelong, Torquay, Ocean Grove and Ballarat throughout January.
