Jazz club turns 40 in style

BALLARAT Jazz Club celebrated its 40th birthday on Sunday 9 November at the Ballarat Golf Club.

Maryborough Traditional Jazz Ensemble and Lightning Jazz Band performed separately, then combined.

Several 1985 founding members attended including Herb Jennings, Bob Pattie, Bob Scurry and Terry Lockett.

Club archivist and life member Cindy Turnbow displayed hundreds of posters and digital photographs on the day.

Many attendees dressed in colourful jazz costumes. Noreen Blake and Geoff Merritt were best dressed.

President Peter Morris thanked the committee for their hard work organising the event, especially to life members Ms Turnbow and Marion McHenry.
