EVERY third Sunday of May at the Red Lion Hotel, the 1969 Ballarat YCW Football Club junior third 18s premiership-winning team reunites, and will continue to until the last man is standing.

Earlier this month, that side was back together, 57 years on from the Ballarat league season where they were undefeated with a winning average of 94 points each game.

“Players were reminded we were all approaching 75 years of age, if not already,” said team member Michael Walsh.

“That didn’t go down too well.

“Some discussion was had that 2029 will be 60 years since the great day at the White Flat.

“A minute’s silence was held for past players Rip Kirby, John Crowe, Paul Smith, Frank Segrave and Greg Jolly, and coaches Colin Dodd, Pat Collier and President Frank Burke.”

Walsh thanked everyone that attended including partners, and hopes everyone keeps fit and healthy ahead of the third Sunday of May, 2027.

A new song has been released by Brendan Britt about the team called The legend of 69 Ballarat, which is available on YouTube.
