LESSER-known sites and some intriguing stories are part of the new Brilliantly Ballarat Walking Tour.
The Ballarat Visitor Information Centre has introduced the new 90-minute experience, offering locals and visitors a fresh way to explore the city’s stories, streets and heritage.
“These tours give people the chance to see Ballarat from a different perspective,” Ballarat mayor Tracey Hargreaves said.
“They not only uncover stories behind the streets but also help visitors feel confident exploring the city afterwards.”
“This tour covers buildings and locations along Lydiard Street, Sturt Street, and Camp Street.

“These tours are a permanent addition for the visitor servicing team and will continue as an ongoing experience for visitors in the region.
“They’ve allowed for additional hours and shifts to be provided to current full-time and casual employees.”
Developed in response to visitor demand and led by guides with the Visitor Information Centre, the tour explores key landmarks alongside lesser-known sites, sharing stories of people, places and moments that shaped the city.
The walking route covers about 850m, with regular stops, and is suitable for all fitness levels, with tours running regularly throughout the week.

“Participants will learn unknown facts of Ballarat’s history – the good, the bad and the quirky,” Cr Hargreaves said.
“We have received positive feedback from industry and visitors so far. We are continuing to collate constructive feedback as well and always welcome any suggestions.”
The tour departs from the Ballarat Visitor Information Centre at the Town Hall and at the conclusion, participants get recommendations on “must-visit” places, encouraging further exploration and supporting local businesses.
