FOR its forty-fifth year, the Ballan Autumn Festival will launch off the ground with an especially super theme.

On Sunday, 15 March, BAF will celebrate local superheroes from 9am to 4pm, drawing thousands of visitors to the Moorabool Shire township with its Country Women’s Association cake competition, pet show, local acts, produce, artisanal crafts and more.

BAF president, Deryck Carruthers said “everyone loves a superhero,” and sponsor, Moorabool Wind Farm has even organised some selfie-ready special guests to make an appearance and meet civilian fans.

“It’s a bold theme for those who want to be imaginative for the costume competition and the parade. It also provides an opportunity to recognize our local heroes as a community,” he said.

“We’re having wandering superheroes on the day. The highly competitive CWA cake decorating competition will be extra colourful with the superhero theme. The pet show is asking for ‘super pets,’ and we can’t wait to see the costumes.

“There are prizes for excellent human costumes, too. There will be more than a hundred stalls, with a dazzling diversity of shopping, food, sights, events and activities.”

BAF’s volunteer organising committee are promoting the festival with their own vibrant, comic-style branded t-shirts.

The traditional country festival aims to present the region’s best to locals and visitors.
