A NEW roundabout, improving the safety of the Kennedys Road and Gillies Road intersection is now finished.

Between Mount Rowan and Miners Rest, the roundabout will see 3800 vehicles a day, formerly a dangerous, high speed site which saw seven crashes after 2013, with passengers receiving serious injuries.

“This new roundabout will make this busy intersection safer for the thousands of drivers who use it every day,” said Western Victoria upper house MP and Minister for Roads Jaala Pulford.

Featuring LED lights, the intersection will be clear to drivers approaching.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Ben Taylor said the completed works mean a “huge reduction in risk for motorists using the intersection and a major improvement in road safety in the area.”

For Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle, regional roads like Kennedys and Gillies are crucial to link communities.

“It’s always great to see road improvements underway and works completed that will boost safety for people driving, cycling or walking around Ballarat,” she said.
