SERVICES and gatherings across the City of Ballarat and Golden Plains Shire will mark Remembrance Day on Monday, 11 November, acknowledging armed forces personnel who have died at war.

At The Arch of Victory in Alfredton, a short wreath laying service will be held early at 9am.

Arch of Victory – Avenue of Honour Committee President, Garry Snowden said the service is a brief one to accommodate attendees wishing to make other remembrance events later in the morning.

“Anyone is welcome to come and lay a wreath or another tribute if they wish,” he said.

At 10.30am, the Inverleigh RSL will host their service at the Inverleigh Monuments.

Running a memorial and offering the opportunity to lay floral tributes, Inverleigh RSL invites shire residents, schools and community groups to attend and get involved in remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Ballarat’s main Remembrance Day Service will be held at the Cenotaph in Sturt Street from 10.30am. Attendees are welcome to refreshments straight afterwards at the Ballarat RSL, Midlands Golf Club.

The Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial on Carlton Street, Lake Wendouree will host a wreath laying service at 11.45am.
