COMEDY veteran, Greg Fleet is heading up to Ballarat to perform live on Friday night.

Headlining a bill of local comics, the stand-up, playwright, actor and author will take to the stage in the Craig’s Royal Hotel Bluestone Cellar for monthly gig, Locally Grown Funnies.

Having performed in 29 Melbourne International Comedy Festivals and seven Edinburgh Fringe festivals, he’s looking forward to performing regionally.

“Audiences are generally better in regional areas. They’re friendly and wanting to be amused, so you’re not fighting from the moment you get on stage. That’s really cool,” he said.

Fleet is keen to get back to Ballarat, where he enjoys the café culture, and deliver a “good time” to comedy goers.

“I’ll be doing some brand-new jokes, some that I’ve done before, and I might do some Balla-centric material,” he said. “It’ll just be fun.”

Kicking off the show at 8pm, Ballarat comic Tim Young is looking forward to being MC for the night.

“I grew up on the comedy stylings of Greg Fleet, so to appear on the same bill as him will be a highlight of an otherwise fledgling career,” Mr Young said, the founder of Locally Grown Funnies.

“He certainly takes you on a comedic ride like nobody else can!”

It’s also an opportunity to catch up and coming Ballarat comics, Scott Angove, Tosh Walker, Chido Mwat and Stevie Stix as they round out the bill alongside Fleet.

Tickets are $15 via trybooking.com.au/bailz.

Fleet is currently in the process of adapting his popular novel The Good Son into a television series.
