BALLARAT Market is on the hunt for vendors to join the car boot alley.

The section of stalls is open to anyone who wants to sell old treasures from their car at the weekly market held on Sundays from 8am to 12.30pm at the Ballarat Showgrounds.

Jaymee Ellis has recently been appointed market manager and she encouraged new people to take part.

“The idea behind car boot alley is to bring back the idea of a car boot sale to the market,” she said.

“In the last few years there’s been new regulations come in that means all vendors have to have their own insurance which means you kind of lose that aspect and people move to Facebook Marketplace.”

To combat this issue, the Ballarat Market will cover the insurance of any vendors along car boot alley.

The market has on average 1000 attendees each week, not only creating a space for sales, but making new friends.

“It’s less work in some ways for people to sell face-to-face as they have access to 1000 people and you don’t have to go through the motions of having people at your house,” said Ms Ellis.

The call out comes as part of Ms Ellis’ goal to bring the event back to its roots, and boost visitation.

“I’m really excited to step into the role and what I’d love to achieve is to bring the excitement and spark back into the market,” she said.

“I want to revitalise the market a little bit and get people back into the venue.”
