ARTSACTION is set to nurture creative minds and hands, from the shire’s north to the south.

A partnership between council and Pop Up Art, ArtsACTION will support and boost the creative industry through education.

The free professional development program for Golden Plains artists, makers and creatives will offer upskilling in-person and online, and provide opportunities to network, find and capture a target market, improve market readiness and discover career pathways.

Golden Plains Shire mayor, Cr Owen Sharkey said ArtsACTION is supportive and practical, running from February to September.

People are encouraged to engage with two program components including a six-part email course and three half-day workshops.

“Golden Plains Shire is home to many creative-minded residents, and programs like ArtsACTION will help ensure that our creative community in regional Victoria does not get left behind in the growth of Victoria’s creative industries,” he said.

“I’m really excited to see how this new program will help the local creative sector in Golden Plains Shire. In delivering this program, council is proud to partner with Pop Up Art, which has been a strong advocate for central Victorian artists in recent years.”

Beginning in May and concluding in August, the three workshops called Being Market Ready, Working Together Effectively, and Digital Communities will be held at Smythesdale’s The Well on Heales Street, Meredith Community Centre on Russell Street, and Bannockburn Cultural Centre on High Street, respectively.

ArtsACTION was announced last month at the Creative Wanderings launch. For more information and registration details, visit popupart.com.au/goldenplains.
