FREE fitness classes in Inverleigh are inviting women, men and children of all abilities to try something new.

Coordinated by the Inverleigh Country Women’s Association, member Theresa Mischkulnig said there’s a “good range” of sessions coming up, “benefiting local business and helping the community.

“On Saturday and Wednesday we’ve got cardio fitness, and on the following Saturday we’ve got yoga,” she said.

“People like the option to test out the fitness classes without committing to doing them yet, and we work with local providers, so if people like them, they can continue with those providers.

“The social element is good, and also people knowing that these services exist, especially with growth in the area and people moving that don’t really know what’s going on.”

Last year the CWA ran a similar program with great attendance, and in 2019 they’re receiving more local government support.

“The local council offers grants for community groups to put on events that facilitate active living, so we’ve put on these events to encourage active living and get people out,” Ms Mischkulnig said.

“We’re hoping the weather will be a bit nicer, so we’ve got a few outdoor events.”

Cardio Blast sessions will run at Lawson’s Park on Saturday 16 November, 10am and Wednesday 20 November, 6.30pm. Bring your own mat to yoga at the Town Hall on Saturday 23 November, 10am.
