BALLARAT’S Upstart Challenge Showcase will be presented live online on Thursday, 12 November.

Six teams of secondary school students who have taken part in the program for budding young entrepreneurs will pitch innovative solutions to problems; a ‘big idea to positively change their world.’

The showcase is set for Thursday, 12 November, 5.30pm to 7pm. Tickets are free to join the celebration and support the city’s potential next changemakers and STEM talent.

Co-founder and director of the Upstart Challenge, Jenny Perks said it’s never been more important for young people moving towards professional employment to have opportunities to learn new skills, strengthen their resilience, initiative and proactivity.

“The entrepreneurial journey they go through in the Upstart Challenge is all about taking feedback from others, and adapting what you’re doing so you can be resilient for the future,” she said.

“It gives young people employability skills…where they can consider starting their own business as a viable career option.

“If they want to go into general employment or tertiary education, the skills they develop…like creative thinking, problem solving, communication and teamwork, are very solid skills workplaces are looking for.”
