Big V three off to regionals

THE Ballarat District Bowls Division recently held the State Triples at the Ballarat East Bowling Club.

Rolling off in the final were Victoria Bowling Club’s trio of lead Donna Leeson, second Janet Norman and skip Helene Stenning, and their opponents from City Oval, Pat Birch in lead, Janine Roberts seconding and skip Michelle Tait.

At the end of the 10th Victoria held a comfortable seven-shot lead. By the 14th Victoria was holding four shots, before City Oval’s Tait produced a magnificent skipper’s bowl to prevent Victoria from extending their margin further.

Then it was Victoria’s turn to bounce back at the next end with two shots up extending their lead to eight. Not to be outdone City Oval with only three ends to go produced some excellent bowling.

Going into the final end Victoria were four shots clear, City Oval dug deep winning this end by four to level the game.

An additional end was needed to decide the winner. In a nail biting finish it was Victoria who came out on top.

The trio will now represent the Ballarat Division at the Regional Finals.
