Buninyong travel to Beaufort in GF rerun

May 23, 2019 BY

Beaufort v Buninyong
IT’S the grand final rematch this week as the Crows host the Bombers in another blockbuster Bendigo Bank & Rural Bank Central Highlands Football League match-up. The Bombers will be desperate to seek revenge and get themselves back in the top eight but face the tough test of beating Beaufort on their home deck. The Crows will most likely be without interleague representative and premiership player, Levi Cox, who strained his calf in the Highlanders loss to North Central this past Saturday. Prediction – Beaufort in a nail bitter.

Ballan v Skipton
AFTER being thrashed by top side Waubra in round six, the Blues will be desperate in trying to get their season back on track when they host the Emus this Saturday. Skipton moved into the top eight for the first time this season after a commanding victory over the Wickers a couple weeks ago and should have no real problems cementing their place further this weekend. Prediction – Skipton comfortably.

Clunes v Waubra
ANOTHER week and another big victory for the Kangaroos you would expect as the struggling Magpies host the flag favourites. Clunes did get there first victory last round but it’s hard to see them getting close the Kangaroo juggernaut that continues to roll on in season 2019. Prediction – Waubra by a big margin.

Creswick v Bungaree
TEN plays eleven as these sides are utterly desperate to make finals. Both teams have struggled to hit the scoreboard this year and Saturday’s contest in expected to be a close and lower scoring affair. Rhys Antonio has been amongst the best every week since returning to Creswick after in a stint in the BFNL,but will need some support if the Wickers want to taste success again. Prediction – Bungaree by 10 points.

 Dunnstown v Gordon
THE Eagles remain a dark horse to go all the way this season and will be looking to skipper, Mark Gunnell, to again lead the way and back up his best on ground performance from this past Saturday. Gunnell will most likely get the job of Towners spearhead, Harry McKimmie, who is yet to fire in season 2019 with only six goals in as many games. Prediction – Gordon by 30 plus points.

Hepburn v Newlyn
MATCH of the round as the Burras host the Cats in what shapes up to be a true battle of the ex-North Ballarat Spearheads. Last year, Hepburn’s Sam Dunstan, and Newlyn’s, Marcus Darmody, played for North Ballarat City in the BFNL, and now are opponents and important figureheads of their respective side’s forward lines. Furthermore, Darmody kicked seven last round, while Dunstan kicked nine as the two skip away at the top of the goal kicking race. Prediction – Hepburn in an old fashion shootout

 Learmonth v Carngham-Linton
AFTER a couple winnable games for the Saints, they now take on a Lakies who just sit one game outside the top four. Learmonth has promised so much in recent years and this weekend presents an opportunity for them to make a statement and put daylight between them and the teams that are looking to steal their finals position. Prediction – Learmonth…could get ugly.

Rokewood-Corindhap v Springbank
SHAUN Maloney’s men have a big chance at home again to claim another scalp as the Tigers travel to Rokewood. After winning their first three games, the Hoppers lost their next three on the bounce and are hopeful that a week off from the interleague bye will give them the refresh that they need to get back to winning ways. Springbank aren’t the same side that was challenging for premierships in the years beforehand, but one thing pundits have learnt about the Tigers is you write them off at your own peril. Prediction – Rokewood-Corindhap in a flip of the coin.
