Burra battle Cats, Roos take on Eagles
Newlyn v Hepburn
THE Burra were at their clinical best last weekend as they knocked out the Bombers in straight sets to progress and play the Cats in the CHFL first preliminary Final. Newlyn will be hoping the week off gives their aging list the rest and recuperation required to back up in a tight finals campaign. Hepburn’s McKay brothers were electric on the weekend with Andy and Brad combining for five majors and their speed and elusiveness against an older Cats outfit could be the edge coach Segifili Asa Leausa will be looking for in this one. Prediction – Hepburn by under a goal.
Waubra v Gordon
In remarkable fashion, Gordon booked their place in the second preliminary final with a come from behind victory over Beaufort. Waubra progressed with a big win over Buninyong two weeks ago and now enter this game this Sunday as favourites despite being comprehensively defeated by the Eagles in the final round of the home and away season by 45-points. The Eagles still possess all the skills and spinal core to be premiers, but maybe the week off and bruising encounter against the Crows, will be enough for the Kangas to reach their own destiny. Prediction – Waubra by 12 points.
