ESSENDON defender Jordan Ridley will miss this week’s Anzac Day clash against Collingwood after being subbed out with concussion in their round five loss to Brisbane.

Ridley was ruled out before half-time of the clash at the Gabba, further adding to the Bombers’ troubles after conceding the first five goals of the game.

New AFL protocols stipulate players diagnosed with concussion are forced to miss at least a 12-day period, meaning Ridley will become available for the Bombers’ round 7 game with Carlton providing he’s passed fit.

Last year’s Crichton Medallist has been one of the Bombers’ most consistent players over the first four rounds, averaging 29 disposals and eight marks a game playing off half back.

Ridley’s setback is the latest in a growing injury list for Essendon, who will now be missing up to eight best 22 players for the traditional Anzac Day clash against Collingwood.

Matt Guelfi was activated as the injury substitute to replace Ridley.
