EUREKA has held on to win by two goals in a thriller in round two of Ballarat Netball’s Premier competition The Athlete’s Foot Cup.

It’s the first win for the Eureka in more than a season.

Coach Jenni Nicholls was thrilled with the result, saying it comes after an extraordinary amount of work from her young team.

Wendouree was down by a goal at quarter time, and four at the main break, but always looked likely to finish strongly.

With a three-goal lead heading into the final quarter, Eureka remained steady refusing to repeat last week’s effort when it was overrun in the last few minutes.

Gemma Mirabella was outstanding in the mid-court, returning this season from a knee injury.

Goalers Lauren Jew and Maddi Selmon capped off the team’s good work as Eureka held on to win by two.

In the second game Dela Oscar’s dominated, knocking off reigning title holder Brown Hill by seventeen goals.

Beth Smith took control at goal keeper and made it very difficult for Brown Hill to score. At the other end, veteran Emma Farrell had a night out at goal attack.

Brown Hill was held to a miserly four goals in both the second and third quarters, which was never going to be enough, and Dela Oscar’s ran away to win comfortably.
