THE Eureka Cycling Club’s Oscar’s Hotel & Cafe 2019 Criterium Series concluded last Sunday.

Thirty riders contested the four Eureka criterium championship events, on a cool and overcast Monday morning.

The feature event was the championship race and there was plenty of excitement for the spectators. Tim Canny and Matt Bowman led the attacks and counter-attacks that were the order of the day.

Craig Lee forced a breakaway late in the race, as he attempted a third straight Champion title, however it was brought back and ten riders still remained in contention on the final lap.

Damien Keirl had countered every effort throughout the day and he produced a powerful sprint to win from Canny with Jason Birch flashing home in third place.

The criterium championships capped off a fantastic weekend for Eureka Cycling which also saw Graeme Parker win the 64.5 Km Bendigo Open Handicap on Sunday 10th.
