Gold Diggers win region, fall in Geelong

BALLARAT’S junior bowls development side, the Gold Diggers, were too strong for the Bendigo Dragons during their yearly tournament hosted at Webbcona Bowling Club on Thursday, 9 January.

Twenty-six juniors represented their regions ranging from six to 17 years old. All games were played with great team spirit with all players supporting and encouraging each other.

Following the Gold Diggers retaking the championship shield they headed to Leopold Sportsman Club to take on the Geelong Giants on Sunday, 12 January.

The Gold Diggers just missed out on bringing a second shield home on four days.

After a full day of competitive Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours, the decider was an intense measure on the last end with the Giants narrowly defeating the Diggers.
